  • Through a 15-year PPA with Casa dos Ventos, it will secure 14 MW of wind power, covering over 50 per cent of its energy needs at lower costs.
  • This initiative enhances reliability, cuts carbon emissions, and strengthens Indovinya's leadership in renewable energy adoption.

Indovinya, part of global sustainable chemical company Indorama Ventures PCL, is proud to announce a significant step in its sustainability journey through a self-generation renewable electricity project in Brazil. This initiative allows the company to access wind energy at substantially lower cost while ensuring a more reliable and sustainable power supply for its manufacturing operations.

As a major local manufacturer, Indovinya is leveraging an opportunity to benefit from Brazilian regulation by partnering with Casa dos Ventos, a leading power generation company in the country’s renewable energy sector. Under the 15-year Power Purchase Agreement, Indovinya will secure 14 MW of electricity from wind-generated power, covering more than 50% of the company’s current energy needs across its Camacari and Maua plants.

The agreement will ensure a continuous and reliable energy supply while significantly lowering its monthly electricity costs. “The use of 100% renewable wind power will bolster operational efficiency and resilience as well as substantially reduce our carbon footprint”, said John Smith, Chief Procurement Officer.

Indovinya’s self-generation power project marks a major milestone in the company’s sustainability strategy, reinforcing its leadership in renewable energy adoption and operational efficiency in Brazil’s chemical sector. Casa dos Ventos was selected as Indovinya’s Special Purpose Entity (SPE) partner due to its strong regulatory compliance, financial stability, and extensive experience in driving Brazil’s transition to clean energy.

“Our commitment to sustainability is at the core of everything we do,” said Kim Knotts, VP of EHS and Sustainability. “By harnessing wind energy, we are not only reducing costs but also propelling the energy transition forward in Brazil. This initiative underscores our dedication to responsible business practices and a cleaner future, as well as driving increased efficiencies in our manufacturing operations.”
